The JapCuz Tour : Joined by my sister and cousin, Tanya and I enjoyed our last Spring holiday in Japan. From Kyoto to Kyushu we packed a whole lot of fun into two wonderful weeks:)

Autumn : Autumn, the season of tasty treats and changing leaves, crystal clear weather and renewed energy after the long, sticky summer. Despite my love of the heat, I have to say that in Japan - this is definitely the best season. Enjoy.

Winter Wanderings : The fields are brown, the skies are blue, rain is rare and snow is seldom in southern Japan. A warmer winter got us up to monkey mischief and onsen dipping in Japan's oldest established bathhouse - the Dogo Onsen. Enjoy our winter wanderings and btw, Tan takes all credit for these great pix!

Mihara Festival : Our first village festival! Tug-of-war, Yosakoi (prefectural traditional dance), kids sumo and fireworks. Oh! And don't forget the food and beer :) Good work Tan (her tug team won us(me) a slab!)

Shikoku to the East : Discover our adventures across to Muroto cape, the east coast and into Iya valley. For us, this was our first and most memorable trip in Japan.

Sumo @ Nakamura festival : What better way to enjoy a Japanese festival than watch or compete in a "little" sumo tournament. Three white bums vs. many skilled sumo!

Autumn Hike up Mt. Ishizuchi : Our first Japan hike was up Shikoku island's highest peak, Mt Ishizuchi. The hike was a mix of pleasure and pain. The pleasure of autumn's changing colours (koyo) and the pain of walking for 5 hours from Omogo gorge (the absolute bottom!).

Ishizuchi Take 2 : A friend, Adrian, was keen to escape Tokyo's concrete so we met up in Matsuyama and hit the famous Dogo hot spring in Matsuyama. The next day we drove up into the mountains and started our hike up Mt. Ishizuchi. The final ascent was a clambering effort up vertical chains, but the view was all worth it :)

School Life : Enjoy :)

Kyoto to Home Ground : In spring 2006 the other half of parents visited us in Japan (yes, Pom's pez!). Our trip began in Kyoto with more temples, shrines and signs of Sakura (Cherry Blossom) ... See Kyushu for our southern adventure!

Kyushu : Kyushu = volcanoes = hot pools : Tan & Pom + pez in the Suby enjoyed 6 days exploring Japan's most southern island, Kyushu.

Summer Tribute : Tan's 'Summer Tribute' to you :)

Golden Gifu : Every year in Japan brings "Golden Week" with at least three national public holidays. Some fear the crowds, but Tan & Pom plus Prue (oz girl friend) said "Let's do it anyway" and travelled north to Gifu prefecture and the Japan Alps. Luckily, we avoided hell traffic and had great weather - check it out!

Fuji & Fisheye : 'He who climbs Mount Fuji once is a wise man, he who climbs it twice is a fool'.

Compliments of work we scored a free trip to Tokyo, so why not take the time and climb, Mt. Fuji :) Summer here is climbing season and we had fantastic weather conditions. Our trusty Fuji digital was at home and Tan's new Nikkon made homage through a fish-eye!
